"Cloud 9" is a provocative play that explores themes of sexual politics and colonial oppression through a non-linear structure and gender-bending characters. The two-act play juxtaposes the Victorian era with the late 20th century, challenging societal norms and expectations. In the first act, set in colonial Africa, characters grapple with the constraints of their roles within the rigid British Empire, while the second act, set in London, shows the same characters only 25 years later, despite a century having passed, dealing with the fallout of their past and the complexities of their identities in a more modern world.
