The story follows Tootle, a young locomotive attending train school in the town of Lower Trainswitch. Tootle dreams of becoming a Flyer on the main line but struggles with the school's strict rule of staying on the tracks. Despite his curiosity leading him to explore the fields and meadows, Tootle learns the importance of discipline and adhering to the rules.
